Artifact1.2 Narrative: Demonstrates ability to describe fundamental theories of human learning
Towards the beginning of my time in the LDT program I became very familiar with the various learning theories involved in learning design. I chose to write an eLearning lesson utilizing Gagne’s “Nine Events of Instruction”. These events, when learning them, seemed to naturally coincide with how I always wrote my lessons. I guess that proves Gagne knew what he was talking about. Some of these events include gaining the attention of learners (we call it “anticipatory set” in education), presenting the content (aka teaching), and eliciting performance (group work and activities). I then intertwined the elements of constructivism with this e-learning lesson, showing that students will need their freedom to construct their own knowledge as they use technology within the classroom. Technology opens doors and avenues to knowledge that go beyond the brick-and-mortar classroom. I’m very glad I had the opportunity to study the fundamental theories of basic human learning.
